SECTION 21 – DELIVERY & RETURNS
AT PRESENT UK DELIVERIES MAY TAKE A DAY LONGER DUE TO COURIER OVERLOAD (INCLUDING THE SATURDAY DELIVERY OPTION) APOLOGIES IF YOUR PACKAGE ARRIVES LATER THAN YOU OR WE EXPECT.
All Delivery costs are determined by the weight and size of the product(s) ordered and where in the world we are delivery to, unless otherwise stated. The delivery costs are always displayed to you when you proceed to the checkout and before you enter your payment details. Please make a careful note of this as mistakes cannot be rectified afterwards. We reserve the right to increase delivery costs as per Royal Mails annual rise.
Ordering & Dispatch
Unless otherwise stated in the item description, we aim to dispatch all orders within two working days (Monday to Friday) from you placing your order, 24 hours for Special Delivery orders. If we anticipate any delay in this time period we will do our upmost to keep you informed by email but unforeseen circumstances do arise.
Please check all item descriptions as dispatch times may vary for certain products, these dispatch times are an estimate and can become shorter or longer. Idle Moments Limited is not bound by any timescales listed anywhere on this website, they are an estimate only and are for information purposes.
We can deliver product(s) to most countries throughout the world. As a general guide, approximate delivery timescales after dispatching your product(s) are:
- UK 1-5 working days
- Europe 5-8 working days
- USA and Canada 8-10 working days
- Rest of the world 10-14 working days
Delays or Loss in Transit
Once your order has left our premises it is then solely and fully in the hands of the delivery/courier company as from the day your order status is changed to “Sent Out” or “Dispatched” (by choosing a delivery option this is the follow on service you have chosen and paid for yourself as a customer).
We can provide you with any tracking information, dates, reference numbers etc, but it is therefore your responsability to track and trace the parcels in transit and claim for any loss or damage of items whilst in the hands of the delivery/courier company.
We reserve the right to help you with claims but Royal Mail and most couriers suggest waiting at least 28 days for delivery of any parcel before a claim form can be submitted for a parcel deemed as lost in transit, this allows time for a parcel to be collected from the collections office if no one was home when they attempted delivery, and for the parcel to be delivered back to sender if it was not collected, any claims will not be submitted to Royal Mail until after 28 days by Idle Moments Limited Unless these conditions state otherwise, we are not liable for any loss, costs, damages, charges or expenses caused by any delay in delivery.
Returns By Royal Mail
If a package is returned to us because you failed to get it redelivered or collect it from your local delivery office within the timescale on the card left by the postman (normally 7 days for recorded and special deliveries, and 28 days for standard 1st and 2nd class mail), because you were not home when the postman attempted to deliver, then postage fees to resend an item back out to you may be requested before it is resent, because we (as the sender), have to repay postage on the item to be resent.
All product(s) are fully checked and tested before dispatch, but in the unlikely event of faulty or damaged product(s) please refer to our returns policy below. Returns If you find your product(s) are damaged upon arrival you must notify us as soon as possible in writing by emailing us before you can return it to us. We must be made aware of any Faulty or Damaged product(s) within 7 working days of delivery.
We will fully inspect all product(s) before making a decision on any exchange or refund and reserve the right to refuse to accept a return we deem non faulty, returned outside of the 7 days, not in satisfactory condition, or damaged by yourself due to misuse and not following the correct instructions on use of the product(s), it will then be returned to you and you may have to pay the return delivery fees.
In the event of any unwanted product(s) you may return it unopened and unused without the seals or bands broken or removed, within 7 working days for an exchange, or a refund (minus an admin fee) assuming it is a product that we will accept as a return as unwanted products, if the anti tamper labels have been removed, the product is voided and can NOT be returned, (for health and hygiene reasons). Anything returned after 7 days will not be accepted and a refund will not be issued and you may be liable to pay costs for the goods to be returned to you, this also applies to products returned that have been opened and labels voided or products removed from packaging. You must always inform us first via email, before returning any product(s) to us.
Should we accept your return you can expect your refund or replacement product(s) within approximately 7 working days after we receive your faulty or unwanted product(s) minus a 15% administration and restocking fee for any unwanted products(s).
Please note you shall not be entitled to a refund of the delivery costs incurred in returning the product(s) to us.
Before returning your faulty or damaged product(s) to us please ensure that you sufficiently package the product(s) using similar packing to what the product(s) were shipped to you in. You are also advised to return product(s) by recorded delivery, registered post, or by courier. Proof of postage will not be accepted as proof of delivery. Please remember to give us your full name and address, and a copy of your purchase receipt. We will not accept liability for product(s) lost or damaged during transit returned by you, therefore we advise insuring all product(s) returned to us. (For further information please ask your local post office branch)
We will be guaranteeing most of the secondhand items we sell for one year. The things we sell and recommend should last for many years, often longer than newly produced items – and we wish to demonstrate this to customers via a full years warranty.
In the event of a problem with equipment bought from us, we will endeavour to repair it or replace it with an equivalent item.
Further, should equipment bought from us develop a fault outside of the year, we will where possible repair at cost, or replace at discount.
In some instances we will offer items with shorter guarantees or without a guarantee – with the understanding of the purchaser and reflect such in the price. Reasons will include travel, delivery and destination plans. Intended unspecified use. Explicit weaknesses or faults and difficulties in repair.
Our warranty will not include return delivery costs, collections, disassembly or reinstallation.
- Misuse of any kind. This includes using domestic HiFi equipment for parties and other event. Use at excessive volumes. Positioning in poorly ventilated areas. Connection of excessive loudspeaker loads. Unspecified use.
- Incorrect and inappropriate connections such as shorted loudspeaker cables, connecting/disconnecting devices while amplifiers are on. The use of non specified cables, leads and handmade leads.
- Damage inflicted by mains voltage surges and spikes.
- Equipment that has been repaired or modified by parties other than ourselves without our approval.
- Other equipment connected to that bought from ourselves.
Installation and use generals.
All equipment should be connected via a mains spike & surge protector and, where the situation permits, a separate mains spur from the consumer unit will provide a cleaner more stable power supply.
Make all connections whilst equipment is turned off or best unplugged.
Do not connect or disconnect devices such as iPods etc while the amplifier is turned up. Zero the volume first.
When connecting loudspeakers always turn off and unplug the amplifier first. Ensure that the connection is secure before turning the amplifier on. At no point must the positive and negative terminals touch at either end as this will cause a short circuit.
Loudspeakers will provide the best stereo imaging when positioned 6-8 feet apart, somewhere around ear level and about 10 feet away from you.
As a rule, speakers put directly on the floor will wallow and those placed too high will trill. But many people get great results putting speakers in all sorts of eccentric positions and a little experimentation often goes a long way, particularly in spaces with unusual acoustics.
Position amplifiers with sufficient ventilation.
Connect only the specified load. That means no more than one pair of speakers in most instances unless confirmed OK for 2 pairs.
You will enjoy your turntable much more if it is at a convenient height and freely accessible. Tucked away, low down etc. they get ignored and dusty.
Turntables work best positioned on their own independent surface, such as a wall mounted shelf. Preferably not on something that stands on a wooden floor. They should not be rested on other equipment.
