La Mariota, Le Vol des Etourneaux 2022

Grape: Syrah, Grenache, Carignan

Region: Languedoc, France 

A blend of Grenache Noir, Carignan, and Syrah from fifty year old vines grown on clay and limestone soils in Vingrau, one of the best terroirs in the Rousillon. The grapes undergo a short five-day whole-bunch maceration, before fermentation with native yeasts. Maturation is carried out for four months in demi-muid barrels, followed by four months in tanks. The wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined, with 18 mg/L of sulphur. Elegant and light in style, it reveals lifted aromas of red fruits, delicate florals, and subtle herbs. Best enjoyed slightly chilled on a warm day.
